Christmas Centerpiece

With Christmas right around the corner I just wanted to share how to make a quick centerpiece. Be creative and use things you have on hand.

Start with a holiday place mat.IMG_2763.jpg

Add a small wreath.IMG_2766.jpg

Then a pedestal cake plateIMG_2767.jpg

On top of that place pillar candle plates. I used antique crystal and silver coasters. IMG_2772.jpg

Then add 3×4 pillar candle. IMG_2774.jpg

After that I placed the two Christmas Angel ornaments. They were given to me by my Grandma and hold my own special memories.IMG_2780.jpg

A handful of jingle bells scattered around finishes the look.IMG_2783.jpg

There it is, a fast, inexpensive center piece for a dining table or coffee table. Make it special by using ornaments and items that hold fond memories for you.IMG_2752.jpg

Merry Christmas!

Catching Up

Hello Friends,

What a crazy year it’s been, I can’t believe how the months have flown by since we last checked in on Francie and her Furniture Blog. I’m sure she has created lots of lovely, whimsical things over the summer.

Before we learn more about refinishing and creating furniture I’d like to take a minute to catch up a bit myself. As you know, my first novel The Filigree Heart came out last February. I’d like to thank all of the people who purchased the book. It’s been fun hearing from them and knowing they enjoyed it. Since then I’ve been working on the second book in The Memories of Things series, The Hand Carved Rose. In this book, Francie finds herself searching for the long-vanished daughter of a mysterious local family and journeying across the Midwest following a web of clues only she can see. The Hand Carved Rose will be released in early 2019.

As summer winds down I’m realizing what a whirlwind it has been. Besides writing and being super busy at the day job I’ve had some adventures as well. In Gatlinburg, Tennessee I had a close encounter with a black bear who actually knocked on our cabin door, begging to come in like a big old dog. In Asheville, North Carolina I visited the Biltmore Estate, something I’ve wanted to do for many years. It was amazing and so much more than I expected. I can’t wait to go back to explore more of Asheville and drive farther on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Finally, I traveled to Denver, Colorado to attend the Romance Writers of America National Conference. It was awesome to meet and learn from some of my favorite authors and spend time with many writer friends.

Look for a new Francie’s Furniture Blog coming soon. If you’re a fellow DIY furniture enthusiast I’d love to see what you’ve created!  Visit me on Facebook to share photos of your projects.

              Have a happy autumn.
